PPP government capable of surviving without coalition partners: Mukhtar
NEW YORK: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar says that the PPP government was in a position to stay in power even without its coalition partners, and it will continue to serve the people. “There is no danger to the government even if PML-N leaves the coalition,” he told a gathering of Pakistani-Americans in Brooklyn , a borough of New York City. After addressing the dinner meeting, hosted by PPP New York State President, Sarwar Chaudhry, the defence minister answered questions from journalists. He paid tributes to overseas Pakistanis for making their contribution to the prosperity of Pakistan. The foreign exchange they remitted back home was of critical importance to the country. He suggested that they also provide modern technology to their homeland to further accelerate its progress. During his recent meetings with US officials, Mukhtar said he urged them to help in putting up industries in Pakistan’s tribal areas to provide jobs to the people so as to bring prosperity to the region that would effectively combat terrorism.
