KESC announces increase in load shedding

KARACHI: The Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) has announced to increase the duration of load shedding in the city. According to KESC sources, the total supply of electricity from six units of Bin Qasim plant was around 800 mw at the moment, which was insufficient since the plant has a capacity to generate up to 1150 mw electricity. Sources further stated that KESC was supplying 1600 mw to the city, which was not enough to meet its requirements, therefore duration of load shedding has been increased from 6 to 8 hours in residential areas and 10 to 12 hours in the industrial areas.
