Rehabilitation of flood-affectees in NWFP top priority: PM Gilani

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Friday said that rehabilitation of flood-affected people displaced by the current hill torrents in NWFP is the top priority of the government. He was talking to a delegation of Parliamentarians who called on him here at the Prime Minster’s Chamber in the National Assembly. Deputy Speaker National Assembly Faisal Kareem Kundi and Speaker NWFP Assembly Karamtullah Chagermati were also present in the meeting. The Prime Minister stressed the need for early warning mechanism that will work closely with the Disaster Management Cells to pre-empt any such situation in future. He also emphasised the strengthening of provincial disaster management cells. The Prime Minister said the federal government has already dispatched the initial requirements of medicines, 4000 tents, 5000 blankets and more than 10,000 plastic sheets for the effected areas and more are in pipeline. The delegation thanked the Prime Minster for his personal efforts to their requirements in this hour of need.
